What is my favourite food?
How can I possibly decide
That’s like asking a favourite book
Or song or walk or child!
I suppose I must try
If forced to put it to the test
Something new I’ve made myself
That pleases me the best
Vegetarian food
Is a new world I have explored
We gave up meat only for Lent
And never have returned
I teach myself new ways
To explore, nourish and succeed
Tasting food afresh and anew
Even growing from seed
Watching herbs in a pot
That I have planted from a seed
The taste of satisfaction grows
From a leaf plucked at need

Loved this … the sense of satisfaction in eating the food you’ve grown yourself is always the best. My tomatoes — absolutely nothing to compare …

Definitely, though for me it is my peas, beans and herbs. Ask my life we grew our own potatoes, apples, rhubarb, berries at home so there’s nothing to compare, as you say so well x
